Dream is proud to have been the first and only National Corporate Sponsor of the Shoebox Project for Shelters, a national organization that brightens the lives of women living in shelters by giving them shoeboxes filled with small gift items.
The shoeboxes are decorated and filled by Canadians from coast to coast, giving everyone a chance to give back to their community. The movement is also increasing Canadians’ awareness about women’s homelessness and its related factors, such as abuse, poverty, and mental illness.
By becoming the National Corporate Sponsor, Dream provided the Shoebox Project with the means to hire administrative resources, such as a national coordinator who oversees the organization’s growth.
Since the Shoebox Project’s beginning, Dream employees have contributed thousands of boxes through annual holiday campaigns. Our employees in Saskatchewan laid the groundwork for new chapters by organizing the first shoebox drives in Regina and Saskatoon, and employees from Halifax to Surrey continue to make and collect shoeboxes for women living in local shelters.
